Shortly after, a steady flow of knocks on the door came from local businesses looking to tell their stories and showcase their brands to the world. We couldn't resist! So we formed White Circle Productions, a company dedicated to telling those stories in a cool, professional and engaging way.
Since then, we're still the filmmakers we always were but we've just grown a little… and moved closer to the beach. Now, with our 12-strong team of dedicated production and post-production professionals, we think we're more equipped than ever before to tell your stories. Just check out some of the content we've produced for brands such as Mizuno, JP Morgan, Kraft, The Ritz, The RNLI and Wyke Farms.
We love the moving image and can create anything from live action to bespoke style animation. As creative innovators, with roots in television and feature-film production, we endeavour to apply our experience, contacts and passion to everything we produce whether its viral video, corporate doc or promo film.
Check out our sister company White Lantern Film for references to our work for Broadcast and Film.
The majority of post-production jobs can be completed internally by our experienced team of editors, digital designers, visual effects supervisors and animators. We also welcome our clients to sit in with their editor throughout the project assembly process.
Alongside our post-production facilities, is our in-house production management and administration team, vastly knowledgeable in all things production-related like location management, casting, contracting, licensing and all other things less visually exciting but equally important.
But more important than all that, we've got a fantastic kitchen so why not pop along for a cuppa and check it all out!
With a strong independent film and theatre background I created White Circle with Dan to bring our experience of producing creative content to businesses and brands. I am a passionate producer and enjoy telling stories which capture our imagination and inspire audiences. I love exploring new techniques and enjoy working with talented individuals to explore content creation and new technologies.
Fave Film: There’s a lot out there, finding one is hard so I default to Alien, Elephant, Transamerica and a little Australian film called Priscilla Queen of the Desert.
Fave TV: I’m a big fan of US comedy and drama, currently watching The Big C, House and 30 Rock alongside BBC and C4 documentaries from True Stories to Horizon.
Fave promo/viral: Two adverts stand out, BA “To Fly. To Serve” and at Christmas the John Lewis commercial “Gifts” great stories which reinforce two great British brands.
I started off working as a script development officer with BBC writer Jonathan Harvey on various comedy series before moving on to set up White Circle in 2008 alongside developing independent feature film. I'm a lover of classic style and solid storytelling and these two principles are normally found at the core of everything we produce for our clients.
Fave Film: Dead Man’s Shoes, Considine delivers the greatest leading performance in modern day cinema…no understatement.
Fave TV: The office, just pure genius and the defining programme of a generation.
Fave Promo/viral: Probably our viral for Mizuno with FC Porto's Hulk…I share his anticipation in my non-league changing room!
Prior to joining the team at White Circle I was an Events Manager and Music Promoter. I am lucky enough to have organised events and gigs working with musicians from Pink Floyd, Wings, Oasis and the Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck Bands. Joining White Circle was a really exciting opportunity for me, being in such a creative environment with such talented people is an amazing experience and makes everyday different.
Fave Film: Monty Python Holy Grail is brilliant, Dirty Dancing a girlie fav, Spinal Tap of course and anything with Johnny Depp in it, I think he’s great.
Fave TV: I liked Extras, Ricky Gervais is brilliant and I am partial to a bit of Diagnosis Murder or Murder She Wrote!
Fave promo/viral: I like the Meerkat ads, they are just fab, really clever advertising. I have been known to compare the odd meerkat or two on-line myself.
Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa. I joined White Circle late 2007. Editing anything I can get my geek hands on, from Branded Entertainment to Short Films, Music Videos to Viral campaigns. We've put together over 300 Edits! I love getting involved in all aspects of a project, I love new ideas and I love happy clients.
Fave Film: True Romance.
Fave TV: Boardwalk Empire, Game of thrones, Madmen, Californication, 30 Rock, Southpark, Summerheights high.
Fave promo/viral: TMB Panyee FC
With a passion for creating and studying Art & Design I gravitated to Graphic Design which had me locate to Bournemouth. At University I had a natural progression to animation and design which led me to the doors of White Circle. As part of the White Circle team I help shape the direction of our design and animation. Film, animation, design and art... it's all good.
Fave Film: Battle Royale. So much important social commentary, so many gory deaths. An exploration of human nature and the struggles of growing up told through a battle of epic proportions.
Fave TV: There will always be a place in my heart for Buffy. To be a teenager once again, cradling those big ass VHS boxsets.
Fave promo/viral: Best of 2010: The Brendan Fraser Clap Best of 2011: Fenton the Dog Best of 2012: Not sure yet, bring it on internet... or our Mizuno Hulk video.
I came from art college in summer of 2011, and have recently become a more-or-less permanent fixture at White Circle. I specialise in colour, but will quite happily get lost in all the technicalities of post-production. I work on the principle that content and presentation are completely dependent on one-another.
Fave Film: Let the Right One In - a beautiful and wonderful film in every possible way.
Fave TV: Fawlty Towers - it amazes me how twelve episodes can remain so hilarious after so many decades.
Fave promo/viral: Lexus’s The Hard Way commercial – they suspended a chain of five cars from a crane to demonstrate build quality. No CGI.
I come from Puddletown (don’t worry, no one else has heard of it either). After making promotional videos for bands and festivals whilst at school I developed an interest in animation and experimental uses of film. Six years later White Circle took me on as part of their post-production team, hopefully they’ll have me for a bit longer yet.
Fave Film: A Beautiful Mind for the stunning storytelling; Dr Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who for its delicious silliness.
Fave TV: Miranda. Fantastically written. Such a simple concept that leaves me grinning like a loon to myself for days.
Fave Promo/viral: The banking one with the big waterslide around the city. I’d like to swap commutes, please.
Through our broad range of experience and contacts we can help you with more than just video content... talk to us about your business needs.
Video Podcast Series
To create a series of informative advocacy videos presenting the museums of the South West and the various exhibits that have been displayed for the public.
The podcast series was able to successfully promote the activity of the museums and raise awareness of the importance of ongoing funding from both the commercial and public sectors.
Filming with museums opens the doors to a thousand and one fascinating insights, but none more so than the restoration of an Egyptian sarcophagus in the Royal Cornwall Museum.
Philadelphia Young Chef Competition promotional film
To engage audiences by successfully capturing the essence of the Kraft Philadelphia competition and encourage further engagement with the brand online.
Through a successfully integrated marketing campaign within the culinary industries, the promotional film was able to significantly increase visitor traffic and dwell time on the Kraft Professional site.
We also facilitated a live broadcast of the final of the competition on the day of the event, which combined insight into the behind the scenes kitchen environment and the reaction from the judges.
12 Days of Christmas social video campaign
We were approached by Creative Agency Thinking Juice to create 12 x 1 minute episodes showcasing Wyke Farm’s 150 year old family-run business, to be released in the run up to Christmas.
The videos assisted in significantly raising Wyke Farm’s profile on Facebook.
Whilst driving around the Brue Valley, we found our production vehicle helplessly stuck in the Wiltshire mud forcing the crew to march up several hills with all the kit!
Featured Chef, monthly branded entertainment series
To produce a highly entertaining branded entertainment series presenting the behind the scenes environments of the world’s finest Michelin-starred kitchens, to engage the culinary industries and promote the online social network the Staff Canteen.
Over the course of two years the Featured Chef series was able to develop an online following of over 10,000 regular viewers from around the world.
Of all the dishes trailed, nothing left a more lasting impression than Raymond Blanc's own Pigeon baked in a pastry crust.
The Fable of The Painted Door
To create an inspiring and engaging 'do it yourself' film for prestigious lifestyle brand Farrow & Ball.
Following it's YouTube Launch, the film went on to notch up plus 8,000 natural views in under 5 days.
The film was actually shot on one of the dullest drizzly winter days but thanks to the superb camera and lighting team, a bright and sunny setting was magically manifested.
Courtney Thorne System Demo film
We were approached by design agency Make Studio to facilitate their post production requirements on a slick and contemporary demonstration film. This included the bringing to life of all creative motion graphic elements.
Used initially as a visual draw in for potential clients at trade exhibitions attended by Courtney Thorne and Samsung, the film was responsible for hooking in sizable crowds to gain a greater understanding of the featured system.
Working to an incredibly tight delivery schedule, the team were actually able to lock down certain sequences in post before filming had even completed.
Creating award-winning content for brands is what we do every day, we just love it! Check out a handful of some of our most successful projects by clicking left or right on our rotating case study wheel of visuals.
Mizuno Swimwear film
We were approached by Creative Agency Thinking Juice to create a film lead by Mizuno brand ambassadors Fred Bousquet and Will Meynard presenting the loneliness of competitive training and preparation.
A highly stylised and emotive micro-documentary format which received acclaim for its insightful portrayal of the lives of professional sportsmen.
Whilst both Fred and Will comprise the French swimming team, the viral was actually shot on location entirely in Manchester.
Supersonic II Football Boot viral
We were approached by creative agency Thinking Juice to create a highly stylised video showcasing the feather touch system of the Supersonic boot with a medical science theme.
Ranked as the most watched sports video on YouTube within a week of its release.
A very fun viral to develop and deliver. Nevertheless the team just couldn't help but have a kick about when all was wrapped even if they were still in the studio!.
2D animated documentary sequence
To produce a concise animated sequence showcasing the way in which Housing Associations impose laws and restrictions upon home owners in the US.
A highly engaging sequence that captured the attention of the documentary’s audience, and was acknowledged as being amongst other animations a highlight of the film.
The editing team always enjoy making a good video, especially self-developed project such as this one.
Twin Sails Bridge Viral
To create a viral video for The Westover Group featuring their fleet of vehicles crossing the south's iconic twin sails bridge.
Capitalising on an experiential PR event for the Westover Group, the viral was able to generate significant sales interest in the group online in tandem with the unveiling of the bridge itself.
The day following the viral shoot, it was revealed that the bridge itself actually had a major structural fault that would prevent it being open to the public for several weeks to come as it was deemed dangerously unsafe!
Nessa the Camel
To produce a short character based animation for Bournemouth Universities NSS campaign.
The video helped to significantly raise awareness of the NSS survey amongst students and increase early completion rates.
Nessa The Camel went through an abundance of names changes in an early conceptual phase, Boris and Colin being two that were destined not to stick.
